What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient healing technique that was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Reiki comes from Japanese Kanji, which means Universal Life Force. Rei means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki means “life force energy.”
Reiki is not a religion. It is synonymous with well-being and addresses imbalances on a physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental level. It is a gentle, non-invasive technique that can be experienced alone or in conjunction with standardized medicine. Reiki is a natural way to help reduce stress in the body and promote healing. It will not cause discomfort or pain, so it is safe to practice on children, adults, and pets.
- Just for today, I will not worry…
- Just for today, I will not be angry…
- Just for today, I will be grateful.
- Just for today, I will do my work honestly…
- Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing…

What to expect during a session:
A Reiki session with The Willow Connection consists of the recipient lying on a treatment table while fully clothed. Reiki is typically performed with a gentle, hands-on approach that helps move energy within the body although actual touch isn’t necessary. Therefore, Reiki sessions can be done without touch or long distance with equally effective results. Light touch is administered to specific areas of the body that include the head, neck, shoulders, and limbs. All sessions vary in time depending on the individual needs of the client but typically lasts 60 minutes. Receiving Reiki is a passive experience. You do not need to do anything. You will naturally begin to feel relaxed as the energy moves within your body. Since Reiki is subjective to the individual, each client’s experience will be unique and may vary from session to session.
Customize Your In-Person Experience:

Reiki for Pets:
Animals intuitively respond to the healing power of Reiki. This is important because it offers pet owners a non-threatening alternative to address their pet’s well-being. Some animals will seek out hands-on touch from the practitioner while others may avoid it for a variety of reasons. Reiki energy works regardless of the mode of transmission, so it is effective for stressed animals or end-of-life transitioning. Sessions vary in time and are normally dictated by the animal’s cooperation. Once an animal has received what it needs, it will simply disengage from the treatment. Since animals are most comfortable in their own environment, I make house-calls within a 15-mile radius. Distant sessions are available to those outside my travel area.
Benefits of Animal Reiki:
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Promotes healing from illness or surgery
- Relieve pain
- Supports overall health
- Emotional and behavioral challenges
- Assists with rescues
- Reduces trauma from abuse, neglect, loss, and transitions
- Eases end-of-life transition for pet and owner
